The 0.5–1.2 mm 3003 PVDF coated aluminum coil is currently the most widely accepted mid-to-premium grade worldwide for lightweight, long-life metal roofing & exterior siding — especially standing seam, snap-lock, corrugated, exposed-fastener and architectural wall panels.
Compared to 1060/1100 (softer & lower strength) or 5052/5005 (stronger but 20–40% more expensive), 3003 offers the optimal cost-strength balance for the majority of roofing & siding applications:
Mn alloying (1.0–1.5%) → 20–30% higher strength than pure aluminum
Excellent roll-forming & profiling performance
Very good corrosion resistance in most climates (inland, urban, moderate coastal)
Significantly lower cost per m² than 5xxx series while delivering 30–40 year service life
Coating system:PVDF fluorocarbon (Kynar 500® or equivalent): 25–35 μm, 3-layer (primer + color + clear topcoat),Gloss: 30–80 GU (matte to high-gloss standard),Warranty: 40 years color fade (ΔE ≤1), chalking (rating ≥8), gloss retention (≥50%), film integrity

Q1: Why choose 3003 over 1060 or 5052 for roofing & siding?
A: 3003 provides 20–30% higher strength than 1060 (better hail & wind resistance) at only slightly higher cost. 5052 is marine-grade but 20–40% more expensive and unnecessary for most inland/moderate coastal projects. 3003 is the sweet spot for cost, performance & durability.
Q2: What exactly does the 40-year PVDF warranty cover?
A: Fade (ΔE ≤1), chalking (rating ≥8), gloss retention (≥50%), film integrity (no peeling/cracking). Full warranty certificate, AAMA 2605 Level 3 compliance & Florida/Arizona exposure data provided.
Q3: Can you provide salt-spray test report & wind-load calculation for 3003 panels?
A: Yes — 3000–5000 h neutral + acetic salt spray (ISO 9227/ASTM B117) passed. Wind-load engineering support & calculation reports available for your profile & building height.
Q4: Minimum order quantity & lead time for custom colors?
A: MOQ 3–5 tons (depending on color); standard colors 15–25 days; custom RAL match 25–35 days. Sample coils free with freight collect.
Q5: How does 3003 PVDF perform in moderate coastal / high-wind areas?
A: Very good — PVDF-coated 3003 passes 3000–5000 h salt-spray. 1.0 mm thickness handles wind loads up to 150–180 km/h (depending on profile & fixing). Coastal & wind-load data available.
Q6: Is 3003 suitable for standing seam without oil-canning or bowing?
A: Yes — 3003 has excellent flatness & low thermal expansion. We recommend H24 temper + tension leveling to eliminate oil-canning risk. Standing-seam samples & forming suggestions provided.
