Non Anodized Aluminum
Untreated aluminum has a relatively soft surface that is susceptible to physical damage.Through natural formation of a thin layer of aluminum oxide,it loses some of its reflective properties over time (degradation of the total reflectance and specular reflection).
Thin Layer Anodized
A relatively thin layer of aluminum oxide (200-400nm) may produce slightly higher degrees of reflectance;this type of anodized aluminum surface,however,is highly susceptible to damage.On the other hand,these material qualities are ideal for further coating using varnishing or primer systems.
Adding a sufficiently thick layer of aluminum oxide in an anodising process,the surface is protected in the long term to maintain its properties.Used in typical applications indoors and in closed systems,the oxide layer is almost as hard as glass showing marked resistance to aging and wear for a surface with long-term stability.
Lack of control due to the use of white painted (non metal) surfaces!
